A Tour of the Report Editor

A Tour of the Report Editor

The following will provide an overview of the Report Editor explaining Editing the Patient Demographics and Document, Playing the Voice File, and Viewing Document in Microsoft Word.   Once you have clicked on the file name of a released transcribed document, the Report Editor will open to display the document along with a link to the associated voice file.  The Report Editor will look similar to the print screen shown below: Report Editor   The transcribed document is displayed in a basic form that allows editing of the document and provides limited format options.

Editing Patient Demographics and Document

The transcribed document as shown above is where you will need to make any necessary changes to the document (i.e. patient name, medical record number, modify dates or text in the body of the document).     If changes were made on the transcribed document regarding the patient name, medical record number, date of service or date of birth, the changes will also need to be made in the lookup system. This is done by clicking on the CLICK TO EDIT HEADER link as shown above circled in red.  A new form will pop-up displaying basic header information as shown below: Check Header form   To make changes, just modify the displayed values and then click on the Update button and then click on the Close Window button when finished.  This will update the stored values for looking up documents.     Once all editing has been completed in the transcribed document, scroll down below the displayed document form and then click on the Update!  button in order to save the modifications made to the document.   When you are finished viewing and/or editing the document, simply click on the Back to Physician files button below the Update! button. Playing the Voice File

In order to listen to the associated dictation voice file, simply click on the blue, underlined voice file name shown on the top right section of the Report Editor as indicated above in the print screen image of the Report Editor page.  If the voice file is in a DSS format and you do not have the appropriate software to play a DSS file, you can download the Olympus lite player by clicking on this DSSLITE link.   After clicking on the voice file link, you will see a prompt at the bottom of your screen asking if you want to open or save the file.  If you select Open, the file will play in the associated player software. If you select Save, you will then need to browse to the location where you want to save and play the file.
